The New Oop

Welcome to the new ONEOFPOINTS.com. I recently decided to move from Blogger to WordPress. And boy am I glad I did. The only reason for me to stay at blogger was Google Friend Connect, but I, having seen the choices Google made with their services over the past two years, believe that the feature will also be disappearing in the future for Blogger users.

Even though there are a few things that I took with me from the old blog, such as the minty color there have been a lot of changes. First of all: everything functions. Which is quite a difference considering the bugs in my previous layout on the old blog. Next to that, the blog is faster.

Let me walk you trough the changes.

  1. The Layout - Do you like it? It has a bit of the vibe of my old template in it but it’s much better and functions better. I kept the minty color.
  2. The Sidebar – The sidebar or the things in the footer on my previous blog, have moved and some widgets were deleted entirely. The sidebar is now only visible next to the posts and not on the homepage. Great!
  3. The Followers – The thing that kept me sticking to blogger were my followers. I didn’t have that much, but the ones I did have I wanted to keep. But not that GFC has decided to remove the service from non-Blogger websites this is no more. I believe that Google will remove it from Blogger in the future as well. So nothing kept me there. It’s not about the followers, it’s about the blog, the content, and this blog as a hobby in the end. You can now follow me via the like box (Facebook) or via Bloglovin’ in the sidebar.
  4. The Comment System – Commenting is now via LiveFyre, no worries, you don’t need to create another account. You can just comment trough your Twitter, Facebook and OpenID (and much more services).
  5. The Widgets – You can now see the widgets in the sidebar. You can see my latest Instagram picture, recent comments, the blogroll is back and much more.
  6. The RantWeekly Category – “I’m not angry at the world, I just have an opinion.” I’m going to write semi-weekly posts about issues that vary by subject.
  7. The #stopkony widget – You’re on the internet right now, so you probably heard of the Kony action going on online. I’ve seen the film and I was really touched. With this widget I hope to support this project and help the cause. I hope more bloggers do – so if you haven’t done it already please do.

I’m really satisfied with the end-result. Even though there was a bit of a delay in the re-release of ONEOFPOINTS. I’m glad it’s back online. Please tell me what you think of the new OOP in the new comment system!
